CHRISTIAN Iddon demonstrated British Championship form on Saturday, and David Farmer lifted his first P&O Supermoto title at Kirkistown.

However, the sheets of rain and wind went close to being the real winner at the Co Down track but the organising Killinchy club officials stuck to the task and there was relief all-round.

A couple of the early morning races had to be cut-short, but after a course inspection by Iddon, nine-times British champion, he gave the ‘thumbs-up’ for racing to resume.

“It’s good to compete on a real circuit,” said Iddon who hails from Buxton, Derbyshire. “I felt that I was on a for a four-timer until the last race was cut short due to a crash.

“Still, I’m not complaining. Next year I’ll be doing Supermoto for fun because I want to ride in the new British Superbike Evo class. I hope to have a deal worked-out before Christmas.”

In the absence of Matt Winstanley, Ady Smith was the only rider to offer Iddon any sort of challenge in the British title races. In fact, in the opening race Smith failed by just under a second to draw level with Iddon who was performing a stunning rain dance.
