Always ALL or nothing!

Published: 23rd July 2008

I’VE said this before I know and no doubt I’ll say it again but it is either feast or famine in this business. One week there isn’t a major event to be found – even with sat-nav – and then, like last weekend, there was a positive glut of big stuff. Events that we have just GOT to find the space for, like the eagerly-awaited WEC event in Wales, the MXGP in South Africa, the Inter Centre Team Trial up in Geordieland plus MMX, BSMA, Elite Youth Cup etc, etc. And that’s only the tip of the off-road iceberg as there are, of course, dozens of trials, MX and enduro events of varying levels of seriousness taking place the length and breadth of the country.

TV rights are maybe wrong

Published: 16th July 2008

WE live in an age when television has taken over as the great god of sport. Virtually every event from the Olympics (which sadly these days are nothing more than a huge, ridiculously expensive, gravy-train driven farce) down to club enduros have to be seen to be on television.

Well done Mr Hockey

Published: 04th June 2008

WELL, T+MX has been banging the drum for the RHL, Gareth Hockey, promoted 2008 British MXGP at Mallory Park for months now and the proof of the pudding came with Sunday’s racing. But knowing full-well that there will always be people who will find reason to knock the event – usually hiding behind a pseudonym somwhere on the Internet – I have no hesitation in standing-up to be counted and saying, “Gareth – you pulled it off!
