What a busy time were having as we enter the final third of the racing season.
First stop was the Maxxis MXY2 round at Preston Docks. Just prior to racing there the track was open for practice so we didn't need asking twice and went north for the day. It was awesome!
On race day I set a good qualifying session with second and then after I crashed in the first turn in race one I managed to salvage sixth. Race two was better and I finished a solid second for third overall.
After racing as a wildcard at the penultimate round of the MX Nationals we entered the final round at Crookwoods. The new track was in great condition with Alfie Smith and crew doing a top job forming the new lay-out.
We could see that the team had to cut out the first dropdown into the woods because of barbed wire fencing at the bottom but the massive 30-metre triple made up for it!
I netted a great fourth overall in the British Expert MX2 class which I was really happy about.
Roland at Hardcore Racing wanted a team day prior to going to Landrake for round five of the Thor British Youth Nationals.
He put us all through our paces which proved very productive. When the day finished we all set off to stay at Harry Kimber's place which was fun as we all messed around in the hot tub relaxing after a good day's riding.
The next day we all met up at Landrake which turned out to be a great weekend for me with first in qualifying and winning four out of the five motos.
The last moto produced some epic riding between me and championship leader Howard Wainwright. Howard led all the way but I wasn't giving up as we banged bars with each other on the last half of the last lap and the lead changed several times before we both crashed to the floor in the final corner.
I got up first and won which meant I reduced Howard's championship lead to 17 points with one round remaining.
Foxhill and the last round of the Maxxis MXY2 was next up and it would be a tall order to beat championship leader Keenan Hird who had a nice cushion going into the weekend.
In the first race I struggled early on as I rode tense and Charlie Cole was able to open up a small gap which I closed down by the chequered flag for second place.
I went into the last moto determined to win it and I did which gave me the overall from Charlie but Keenan did enough to win the championship so a big well done to him and his team.
Still, I secured second in the championship and was really happy with that and would like to say many thanks to everyone whose support made this happen.
It's the last round of the BYN at Pontrilas this weekend and I hope I can carry over my form from previous weeks and try and claim the championship from Howard.
This will be my last youth race as I will move into the adult class full-time afterwards so fingers crossed.
