With just one week to go before voting closes in the 2018 edition of the TMX Awards in association with Bridgestone things are tight at the top of most categories meaning that every single vote will count when theyre, erm, counted come September 19!

It would seem that the TMX trials community is either very similarly-minded or has got together and decided to vote en-masse as nominations from that discipline are leading the way in quite a few of the mixed sport categories.

For example Toni Bou and Miquel Gelabert are separated by a handful of votes with around a quarter of the vote each as they battle it out to become Best International Athlete.

Motocrossers Marvin Musquin, Jorge Prado and Jeffrey Herlings are best of the rest but still have a fair bit of catching up to do.

The Best Motocross Racer category is currently being aced by Kemea Yamahas MX2 maestro Ben Watson with Max Anstie and BWMA champion-elect Chelsea Gowland more or less tied for second as things stand albeit with around half the number of votes that Watson has amassed.

Best Trials Rider is still pretty much anyones though as James Dabill, Jack Peace, Emma Bristow and Dougie Lampkin all have a similar number of supporters. That said, being trials should the lowest amount of marks win? Nah, maybe not...

Steve Holcombe is head and shoulders above the boys in the Best Off-Road Racer category. Billy Bolt is ahead of the rest but needs a good push from his fans to sway the outcome.

You trials fans have really got behind Harry Hemingway in the Best Youth Athlete category as hes so far the only feet-up youngster to have picked up any votes although in his case its a whole heap of them.

With the motocross riders battling it out between themselves for second, Harry is currently romping away with this one...

The Man of the Year award looks set to go one of three ways with Adam Raga, Jeffrey Herlings and Tony Cairoli all fairly evenly matched. Surprisingly its Toni Bou, Sam Sunderland and Steve Holcombe who are at the back of the pack in this one...

Emma Bristow could be in line for two TMX Awards titles as she currently has over half the vote in the Woman of the Year category.

Alicia Robinson is second at present with Queen of the Dakar Laia Sanz heading enduro ace Nieve Holmes and motocrosser Chelsea Gowland in the lower half of the rankings.

What were we saying last week about TrialGP head honcho Jake Miller pulling it off? Well, as things stand right now hes in pole position to do it again only this time in the Promoter of the Year title chase.

Paul Edmondson, Steve Dixon and Matt Bates are hard behind him, just a handful of votes in arrears though so this one is going right to the wire!

Remember that each and every single vote counts and unless you want an unsatisfactory outcome *cough* Brexit *cough* then you need to get involved right now.

So pick up a paper, fill in the form and send it to us before September 19 and remember that by doing so youll also be in with a shout of winning the TMX Reader of the Year award...
