Nature lover Kev Sandland was overcome with emotion at last weekends Rock Oil XC event at Castle Caerienion.
The Clubman Veteran rider truly embraced the great outdoors by hugging a tree halfway through the race.
"Initially I thought there was a cat stuck in the tree but realised I was mistaken, then I thought the tree looked a bit lonely so I decided to give it a hug'.
Onlookers reported a slightly different version of events.
An unnamed source said: ‘he came out of the ditch and his left hand hit the tree which spun him around and sent his bike to the bottom of the ditch.
Fair play to him, he hung there for about 10 minutes before joining his bike!
It was a good effort.”
