Ace photographer, devoted family man and all-round good guy Tim Tighe tragically lost his battle against cancer on Saturday night. He was 60.

One of the sports most colourful characters, Tim was a talented photographer who had contributed images to TMX for almost two decades.

His off-road interests leaned towards enduro and extreme events but his work was by no means confined to motorcycles. Basically, if it captured his imagination he would shoot it and he built a thriving freelance business around his work.

After a series of chest infections and general ill-health he was diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer of the lining of the lungs caused by exposure to asbestos as a young man in March 2017 but, typically, didnt broadcast his illness and just got on with life.

As well as motorbikes Tim loved football, following England abroad and Wolverhampton Wanderers at home. He was also a black belt in karate an accolade he first earned in his 20s.After stopping for many years his passion was reignited when he took his children to lessons and, starting from scratch in his 50s, he worked his way back up to black belt standard.

Tim was heavily involved in paintball and edited a specialist international magazine that took him all over the world.

However, his biggest passion was his family and when his children were born he started a freelance photography business so he could tailor his working day around school runs, assemblies and sports days.

His good friend and enduro legend Paul Edmondson had these words to say about his best mate...

"It is with great sadness I have to say that my friend and off-road figure Tim Tighe passed away last Saturday evening. Tim, who was with his family and fiends at his home in Dudley can now rest in peace. His passion and character within the sport showed people what a great bloke he truly was.

"Always taking the time to speak with anyone and seen spending many hours riding around the events with his kids, Tilde and Jacob, on his famous quad!! Family and friends where always first in Tims life as well as writing the thousands of reports for riders and club organisers.

"Always putting others first and spending hours of time sorting through his masses of photos, it was his life. The travelling trips I did with him personally will always remain very special and good times. Tim has now left a hole in many peoples hearts, especially wife Vanessa and children Tilde and Jake.

"One very special man will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him and as will the Bostin Shots! that he took."
