CABESTANY BREAKS HIS BIKE IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE INDOOR TRIAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. The Spanish champion cannot continue the race due to the new rules and the Catalan Toni Bou achieves the victory

The biggest surprise of the first round was started in by Albert Cabestany. The great Spanish champion, and one of the favourite riders has broken the shock absorber of the rear wheel of his bike in the third section. Due to this problem he had to abandon the race although he had been doing a perfect performance.

The new rules of the championship only allow to use one bike, not as last season where riders could use two. Also the 3 minutes that are spared to repair the bikes where far too little to resolve Cabestany's mechanical problem, so that he has been condemned not  to fight for the victory in Granada.

For his part, Toni Bou has done a great opening of the season, as he has obtained the victory of the World Championship's first round. The Barcelonan rider, today for the first time with a Repsol Montesa-HRC bike, is now leader of the Indoor Trial World Championship 2007. It's the third time he wins a World Championship round, and it has been in a great final where Bou has maintained the leadership against Adam Raga and Jeroni Fajardo, who has completed a Spanish podium.

Bou, as well as Raga, showed his potential triumph during the first half, where they have had the best score. Fajardo, who was riding with Beta for the first time, has fight for the final until the last moment with Lampkin and Takahisa Fujinami, and finally it was the Spanish who rode the final.

Tadeusz Blasuziak, also a new Beta rider, has opened the Championship. But the hard demanding of the sections have been too much for the Polish and he has done a "five” in all sections. Dougie Lampkin has done a weak starting and couldn't pull himself together so that he hasn't been classified for the final because of one point. For his part, Fujinami, very satisfied with his bike, has been a bit irregular and has finished with a fifth position.

Toni Bou – Repsol Montesa HRC: " I didn't expect such a good starting. I felt very comfortable with the Montesa-HRC, the bike worked perfectly. Even after having changed the brand I'm adapting myself very quick and I've showed it with this triumph here in Granada. It's a great result.”

Adam Raga – Gas Gas: "Year by year the World Championship is getting harder, because the rivals are more competitive. I'm happy with a second place and I'll continue fighting for the title in the next races.”

Jeroni Fajardo – Beta: "To obtain this result with Beta in my first official race was completely unexpected. I'm very satisfied because I've trained just since a few weeks ago with the new bike and to be on the podium is a great result for me”.

Albert Cabestany – Sherco: " I had to abandon the race because my bike has broken and I couldn't continue because of the new rules. But that's how it is and until now I can say I've been the most competitive rider”.
