THE final round of the Pirelli Best of British Series was run by Severn Vally SSC at its Brookethorpe track. Expectations were high that this would be the climax to a very successful championship.

Timed practice went like clockwork with the Open class starting proceedings. Everyone riding to the limit which resulted in the first three races being re-run due to a series of accidents which cost valuable time and only two blocks of racing were completed on day one.
Despite everyone's best efforts the meeting was cancelled early on Sunday morning following heavy overnight rain and deteriorating weather.
A fine display of silverware was on show in the marquee which were presented by our main sponsor Pirelli together with cash prizes for the Open class riders.
Open class started off proceedngs where we were treated to a fine exhibition of riding by support rider Marc Gunter who led from gate to flag in both motos. Where it mattered in the championship Rob Lewis came home in front of Alan Pearce but was unable to claw back enough points to take the title. Clifton Howell, Jake Grossman and Paul Hussey battling out for third on the day with support rider Dexter Marks in close attendance.
AMX produced the best racing in the series with Dominic Foreman holeshotting race one and Matt Gardiner chasing hard. The pace was so quick that when Dominic crashed out a couple of times he allowed the smooth Matt Gardiner to finish well clear and be remounted to gain second spot.
Still in the hunt for the title Dominic's efforts in race two were unbelieveable and not even Matt could stay on his pace. He closed the gap to four points but the rain spoilt his chances of first position.
