THIS year's annual BYMX Team event was held at the British Championship track at Low Gelt Farm, at Brampton, in Cumbria. Organised by the East Cumbria MX Club, 13 teams arrived to do battle to become Team Champions for 2008.

The track was ready and all were ready to go until overnight rain on Friday and most of Saturday put the meeting in doubt. But the riders hit the track and put on an excellent display, even though only one block of racing was completed. Sunday was different as the sun came out, and with the East Cumbria club working flat out from the early hours changing the track, to make sure this meeting went ahead. Well done to all who worked hard to make it happen.
First to the line on Saturday were the Junior 65 riders, and as the track worsened, the riders put in their best efforts to get round the track and score points for their teams.
Lap one and it was Butty McCarty who showed out in front, with Callum Bircher in second closely followed by Jay Lamb and Ben Green. Lamb took over in the lead on the second lap and went on to win as other places changed on each lap. Jason Meara claimed second with Bircher coming home in third.
Adam Sterry showed out in front on lap one of the Small-wheel 85cc class and looked certain to win until he hit some water on lap three, and gave the lead he had built up to Callan Cooper who went on to win. Tom Neal had rode hard to claim second, with Luke Cockburn coming home third. Sterry came in fourth.
In the Big-wheel race it was Jake Page who took to the front on lap one with Matthew Fleming chasing him hard. Behind these two was another battle between Jamie McCanney and Ryan Houghton. Page came to grief on lap two and let Fleming take the lead, and it looked like Fleming had it in the bag until he came off on the last lap and gifted the win to Houghton. Fleming claimed second and early leader Page claimed the third place.
