Danby dances at Delbury

LAST weekend's quantity of snow and a beautiful day encouraged a full contingent of riders to head for the first round of South Shropshire's club championship and saw the ob-servers fill their observer cards with a strong entry of 127 riders.
Local trials enthusiast Andy Farnell and his 30-tonne digger helped the course plotters Mark Wells, Ian Spence and Nick Woodhouse carve out six big rock-step sections in Delbury Quarry and a further four were laid out in the nearby woods.
A strong entry of 18 Expert, including many not-able names, fought a close battle throughout the trial for top spot. But it was to be Midlands ace Ross Danby who danced across the rocks to take the honours, dropping one solitary mark. Close on Danby's heels, and utilising this outing as a warm up for the next Novogar round, was another top young rider, Buster Regan, who was just three marks behind. Not letting the youngsters have it all their own way, John Cowley took third place, pipping Ben Sprigg by most cleans as both doubled Buster's score for an eight-mark loss.
