Lampkin holds second in world indoor trials championship

After five rounds of the world indoor trials championship, Dougie Lampkin holds down second place in the standings - just four points behind current leader Adam Raga. It's been an up and down month for Dougie since suffering his first defeat in the Sheffield Arena trial at the beginning of January.

For the next round in Koblenz, Germany, Dougie had a shaky start - coming fourth in qualifying and taking the last spot for the final. But despite having to ride the sections first in the final, Dougie was in dominant form to take the win and regain the championship lead.

The next round in Marseilles, France, again saw Lampkin on top form. The win went down to the final head-to-head race between Raga and Lampkin where Dougie took an early lead, only to crash out. "Highly spectacular," was Dougie's verdict. Fortunately, he escaped injury - although Raga's win edged him to within a point of Dougie in the points race.

Some 14,000 Spaniards flocked to Barcelona for round five in the hope of seeing a home winner - and they didn't go home disappointed. Raga took his third win of the series to move into the championship lead ahead of Lampkin who came third on the night. Despite this, Dougie remains upbeat. "There's still some way to go yet. I will be fighting harder than ever to regain control next week in Italy."
