This weekend June 23/24 Britains Eddie Jay Wade (Jezyk Racing KTM) will have high hopes heading off down to the south of the country for the Spanish 125s finale at the Las Arenas circuit, Malpartida.

Having kicked off in February at Albaida, Eds season got off to a flying start as he won the championship opening race.Following a crash next time out and a seventh place finish, second overall was his round one reward.

Round two went off at historic Bellpuig, finishing in joint third there he just missed out on the podium, nonetheless he held on to series second.Next up running in a more than solid 3-2 result at Talavera, Ed was back up on the podium at round three. This time he was in second place and his best was still yet to come.

Cranking it up for the penultimate round at Calatayud, his second race win of the series was backed up second time out with a safe runner-up finish, so Eddie topped the podium. Going into this weekends final event, 14-year-old Ed finds himself 19 points adrift of the series leader and reigning champion Mario Lucas Sanz.

Representing the F4E Racing KTM team Lucas Sanz is no mean performer, currently sitting 11th, two places in front of Wade in the EMX 125 championship. With a handful of others in the Spanish series capable of running a similar pace to the leading pair, this final round should be tasty.

Fully realising it will take a mishap on Lucas Sanz part for Eddie to lift the title, its perhaps worth recalling Lucas Sanz himself won the title last year coming into the final round trailing the leader by a similar margin.

Jezyk Racing pilot Sergio Notario was in prime position last year, that was until a chain break at the final round handed the title to Lucas Sanz. Im wondering could there possibly be another twist in the tale this year, poetic justice perhaps!

Following on from Malpartida, next up for Eddie on the race calendar its round six of EMX 125s at Lommel, August 5/6. With a few weeks to fill in between, intensive sand practice in Holland will be the order of the day.

Since moving up to the 125, Eddie actually prefers to race in soft sand, its just he doesnt have a lot of it to work with where he lives in Spain.
