Motorcycling Australia and the FIM Oceania have announced the establishment of the 2022 FIM Oceania Motocross Championship.

The Australian national MX1 series will now double as the FIM Oceania championship with the series aiming to increase international exposure for domestic 450 talent.

The FIM Oceania Motocross Championship will see the ProMX THOR MX1 Championship winner crowned the FIM Oceania Champion for 2022.

Motorcycling Australia and the FIM will hand out the trophy and medallions at the final round of the Penrite ProMX championship presented by AMX Superstores, at Coolum in QLD, based on the THOR MX1 Championship points.

The FIM Oceania Motocross Championship is open to riders from anywhere in the world who wish to compete for the chance to be crowned FIM Oceania Motocross Champion.

Peter Doyle, FIM Oceania President said that is an exciting opportunity for FIM Oceania to help give Australias fastest 450cc MX1 riders this further international recognition.

The role of FIM Oceania is to further develop Motorcycle Sport in the Oceania region at all levels through official FIM Oceania Championships and FIM Oceania programs. The ProMX Championship is set to be outstanding in 2022 and FIM Oceania is excited to be able to be part of it and to crown an FIM Oceania Champion through the incredibly talented field of riders in the THOR MX1 class.

The long term goal of FIM Oceania is to see our Champions head overseas to compete in the FIM World Championships like MXGP, and to see more FIM Champions emerge from the Oceania region.

I would like to thank Motorcycling Australia and the ProMX Championship on behalf of FIM Oceania for this exciting partnership opportunity for 2022. Concluded Mr Doyle.

FIM Oceania is a continental union and regional representatives of the Fdration Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the world governing body of Motorcycle Sport. FIM Oceania works closely with its member federation nations and FIM to provide a consistent strategic plan and development of motorcycle sport in the Oceania Region.

The ProMX Championship gets underway this coming Sunday March 27 at Wonthaggi in Victoria. Below you can see the 2022 FIM Oceania Motocross Championship calendar that combines with the Australia national series.
