With the WOR Tough One Extreme Enduro rapidly approaching, legendary Finn Kari Tiainen headlines

KARI Tiainen, the seven times World Enduro Champion, will be on the start line at the 2007 Tough One, Britain's leading Extreme Enduro, that will take place on Saturday, January 20, at Nantmawr Quarry, near Oswestry, Shropshire. Tough One organisers WOR Events is proud and very pleased to sign-up such an enduro legend – the KTM-mounted ‘King of Enduro', as he was known for years.

After negotiating with, and persuading the 40-year-old Finnish off-road superstar to come over and take part in the event, WOR organiser Steve Ireland needed to come up with a bike and Shaun Sisterson, managing Director at KTM UK, immediately stepped-in with a 400 four-stroke and Kari will be here in time to set the bike up and put his own personal bits on the machine on the days preceding the event.

Kari Tiainen's World Championship roll of honour reads as follows: 1990, 250 Suzuki. 1991, 250 Husqvarna. 1992, 500 Husqvarna 4T. 1994, 500 Husqvarna 4T. 1995, 500 Husqvarna 4T. 1997, 500 KTM 500 4T. 2000, 500 KTM 500 4T.

The 2007 Tough One now has all the hallmarks of a truly outstanding event with World Champ David Knight taking on the likes of Wayne Braybrook, Justin Wilson, Graham Jarvis, Tom Sagar and now Tiainen.

Said Kari, who now lives in Spain, "I'm really looking forward to coming over and competing in this event, I've not been training like I used to and I have been doing a lot of desert riding of late, however to come over to England and ride in an event where the organisers are so passionate and dedicated is very tempting. I ride a bike for fun these days and I'm sure that what the Tough One will be.”

Steve Ireland enthused, ”This is fantastic news, I'm over the moon to have secured an Enduro legend like Tiainen for the Tough One and I can't wait to feel the atmosphere in that quarry on the day.

"I would like to thank Shaun Sisterson at KTM UK for an instant "Yes” when I called him to arrange a bike for Kari... also Michelin and Trail Tech for other equipment needed for the big fella.”
