Press release

It is with immediate effect that Apico Suzuki rider Luke Hawkins has made his decision to leave the team after a series of disappointing results following his return to racing at the beginning of the season.

Luke, a former European Series top 5 rider in 2010, hasn't seen the same form since returning from serious injury in 2011. With the recent return of Lewis Gregory, now in the MX2 class and Jamie Skuse in MX1, the team will continue to go from strength to strength. Skuse is currently leading the Phoenix Tools Championship and Gregory made a great comeback from weeks of injury at the Phoenix Tools to podium at Fraddon. He also made an impressive return to the top level in last weekend's Maxxis British Championship at Hawkstone with 13th overall in MX2.

Rob Hooper: ‘It is with regret that I have to inform you that Luke has decided to leave Apico Suzuki, we have put a lot of work in with Luke and intensive training, which saw him relocate to Rugeley for 5 weeks to see if we could work out his riding issues. Unfortunately this work and the fantastic riding done in training haven't transferred to the race track or results we both expected. It is because of this Luke has taken the decision to leave the team'.

Apico Suzuki will now move on and begin preparations for the British Masters this weekend at Foxhills.
