MX Nationals Two-Stroke Hawkstone Park Jamie Law

Apico Husqvarna headed to Hawkstone Park for the penultimate round of the Michelin MX Nationals, where two-stroke advocate Jamie Law got on the podium.

After posting the eighth quickest time in qualifying, Law set about preparing for the racing at one of his favourite tracks.

In race one, he made a good start though he was cautious due to the dust and new layout and lost a few positions.

Once the field had spread out a little and the dust settled, Law got into his rhythm and started to push on passing contenders Calum Mitchell and Calton Husband to finish 10th and fourth in the Pro MX2 class.

Law didn't manage to get out of the gate well in moto two, and visibility was again an issue. He held back to give himself a clearer vision.

In an unfortunate twist of bad luck, a large stone hit his goggles on the second lap. The roll-off film doubled over and blurred his vision. After a few laps of getting used to the obstructed vision, Law was able to make a charge. He passed the 450 riders of Dan Thornhill, Tony Craig, and Glen McCormick before pushing past Adam Collings and closing in on Mitchell to finish fourth and claim the third spot for his first MX Nationals podium of the season.

"To say I'm surprised that Jamie is giving a lot of these younger riders a run for their money in both championships is an understatement," said team boss Dylan Brown.

"Jamie is only 10 points off third place in the Apico Factory Racing Pro MX2 Championship and seven points from third place in the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship, so we'll be putting everything into helping him achieve this."

Teammate Martin Barr finished fourth overall in the Pro MX1 class with a fourth and a fifth scorecard, while Apico Husqvarna's other MX1 rider Stuart Edmonds was back under the awning. However, he decided not to race as his wrist still needs a couple of weeks to heal fully.
