Josh Gilbert nails MX Nationals win

Buildbase Honda rider Jake Nicholls and Honda Adventure Centres Josh Gilbert dominated the Pro classes at round two of the Michelin MX Nationals at a redesigned Preston Docks track on Sunday, ending the day on top of the Pro MX1 and MX2 podiums.
Jake, who took both race victories at the opening round of the series, won the opener by more than 35 seconds and was over half-a-minute ahead in race two.
Its been a great day, he said. I got good starts and just put my head down and enjoyed it. I feel that I rode decently and once I got a bit of a lead I kept pushing on. The track was tough it was hard underneath and dry but the new lay-out worked well.
The bike is so good. Ive got a great set-up and whatever track I go to I dont have to stray far from it and that makes a huge difference. I think working in the week gives me a different perspective and Im enjoying getting away at the weekend. Obviously, Im still working hard with practising and training during the week but Im enjoying it so much more.
Racing alongside the MX1 class in the two mixed-capacity Pro motos, Josh was first MX2 rider home in both races with his 3-2 card good enough for second overall in MX1!
I couldnt ask for much better really, said Josh, whos jumped from sixth to second in the championship. I was fastest in qualifying, was first in MX2 in both motos and I also would have been second overall in MX1 so it was pretty much perfect. Im feeling very confident at the moment after getting some good results lately I just need to try and keep it going.
There was also a podium for the teams MXY2 four-stroke rider Callum Green who backed up a win in his opening moto with three runner-up finishes for second overall to climb to second in the championship.
