MXGP Agueda Maxime Renaux

This weekend, Maxime Renaux heads to Agueda in Portugal full of confidence as the FIM Motocross World Championship returns after its short break.

To say Renaux has settled into life in the MXGP class is an understatement. This season's high-profile rookie has lit up the racing in the first three rounds of the series, and the MX2 world champion has rubbed out any doubts he would need time to adapt to the aggressive rhythm of the leading lights of the class.

Renaux has seamlessly picked up where he left off last season with challenges for podiums and wins. He raced to his first-ever MXGP moto win in Argentina, and his two-one result at Villa La Angostura was only bested by the tiebreak of Tim Gajser's two-one score.

Comfortable with the start of his maiden campaign, the 21-year-old Frenchman has made the most of the break from racing. "I enjoyed a weekend off; I went back to France to see my family and friends as I recovered to be ready for Portugal and two back-to-back GPs," said Renaux.

"Ive only raced in Portugal once before, so I hope to make some good memories this weekend.

"I really like the track. It has nice jumps and nice ground, so I think its a track where you can have a lot of fun. I look forward to it and hopefully being back on the podium this weekend."

Crossdromo Internacional de Agueda returns to the Grand Prix calendar this weekend after two enforced seasons away, and Renaux goes into the event second in the riders' standings, 17 points from Team HRC's Gajser.
