Team USA have won the Motocross of Nations for the second successive year and took home the Chamberlain trophy for a record seventeenth time in front of a massive 85,000 crowd at Matterley Basin in Great Britain for the 60th edition of the competition.

The US finished first in front of Belgium and New Zealand. David Philippaerts was KTM's best performer as his results of 3rd and 7th on the 450 SX-F helped the Italians to fourth place overall and just miss out on the podium by two points to the Kiwis.

The English terrain was slick and rutted after two hours of strong rainfall this morning but held up well and the long and large jumps give good air-time for the world's best riders to show what they could do.

Despite their overall triumph none of the Americans were able to win a moto as the races belonged to Stefan Everts (twice) and Antonio Cairoli. Everts (MX1), Ryan Villopoto (MX2) and Steve Ramon (MX Open) were the winners of the individual categories.

British MX2 Champion Carl Nunn contested the Open class for Team GB as the hosts took 6th overall. Nunn finished 12th and 11th. Tyla Rattray had some lonely races in the mid-top ten in MX2 but 9th and 5th was the best set of result for South Africa to place 7th.
Jonathan Barragan struggled with a bad start in Moto1 representing Spain in MX1 when his fork start clamp would not free itself and he had to stop and release the catch. He then charged back to 14th from last and took a much improved 6th in the final moto to place Spain in 8th.

Marc de Reuver gained 3rd place in the B-Final as Holland failed to make it through to the main events.

Jonathan Barragan
"I am quite content with my day's riding although the first moto obviously did not start as I wanted. I tried to come back as best as I could but I was quite far behind. The second moto was better and I kept in sixth. The result was OK but it would have been nice to be further forward fighting with Stewart and those guys.”

David Philippaerts:
"It was a good day for me and also the team after a disappointing race last year. The 450 was working well today and I think we will not have that much work for next season. I had a great start in the second heat but I lack some MX1 experience because the bike is heavier and faster so it requires a little bit of a different style. I am really looking forward to 2007 now.”

Tyla Rattray:
"It was a good weekend and I really enjoyed myself out there, the only thing that let me down was my starts. Those first two laps is something I need to work on; the gap was big to reduce and if I was up there from the beginning with them it would have been different. It was an awesome event and it was amazing how many people there were.”
