IN front of a crowd of 8,000 spectators the World Supermoto Championship reached its finale at the Port of Piraeus on the Mediter-ranean coastline near Athens, in Greece, at the weekend.

On a cold and sunny Sunday, KTM in S1 and Thierry Van den Bosch in S2 won the remaining titles in front of the spectacular sea by which the track was placed.
Frenchman Van den Bosch won the Championship in the first moto, at the end of which his team showed him an unusual pit board: ''101% World Champion''.
His first season in the S2 class finished with his fourth GP win, because Van den Bosch won both motos, leading from start to finish in both.
World S2 Champion in 2005, Boris Chambon, was Van den Bosch's main rival in both races. Chambon finished second in the opener, and repeated the position second time out, following Van den Bosch and almost catching him at the end of the second moto.
Belgian Eddy Seel's comeback, after his wrist injury, finished with third place in the GP. The Suzuki rider tried to pass Manzo in the first moto, but the Italian maintained third place until the chequered flag. Seel made a mistake and was passed by Gozzini, ending up with fifth spot.
In the second moto Seel made amends for his first race slip up, and finished third.
Jorge Nestor had a positive second moto, starting from tenth and making up a lot of ground, but he was then disqualified for cutting the track!
