AMA Supercross Aaron Plessinger Anaheim Justin Barcia

Monster Energy Yamaha riders Justin Barcia and Aaron Plessinger had a tough night at Anaheim 2, round three of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series.

The first of three events this year to follow a Triple Crown format, Barcia ran 7-3 in the opening two Main Events before a big crash in the final race handed him a DNF with a suspected bruised coccyx. Plessinger, in just his third 450 supercross, recorded 12-9-6 finishes for seventh overall.

Anaheim 2 was a pretty good race for me, said Plessinger. I kind of was struggling with bike set-up all day and then after the last practice we made a shock change and it was great. I got a few bad starts in the first two Main Events which hurt my results but I felt good all night.

I rode what I thought was the best that I have ridden so I think I did pretty good for it only being my third 450 race. Im really amped for Oakland next weekend. Im going to go back and work on my starts, practice them all week and get it down pat so hopefully we can get up front and get a podium.

Despite his DNF, Barcia sits fourth in the 450SX standings, just seven points behind the leader going into round four, while Plessinger holds ninth.
