Trials

Normandy MCC stage the first round of the 10 event ACU Wessex Plant Hire British Sidecar Trials championship at Dunsfold, Surrey, this Sunday, March 3.

Clerk of Course Richard Thomas and his team have plotted 36 quadruple route sections at the Rams Lane venue and all are on private land. No roadwork involved. The really good news is that no fewer than 28 crews have entered which is well up on last years numbers.

The breakdown is four Experts, three Inters, a mighty 16 Clubman, two Newcomers and three non-championship Sportsman entries. Reigning British champions Josh and Luke Golding again joust with Jon Tuck and Matt Sparkes in a battle of the giants. Current Inter champions, dad Nigel and daughter Gracie-Mae Scott join the party riding the Luscombe Beta.

Manx pair Jack Corlett/ Beth Thomas have Robbie Head/ Aaron Jacobs plus Sean/ Paul Cuckow to deal with in the Inter ranks. As for the Clubman contest it is too wide to call.

Mick Treagus, Karl Jarvis, Bernard Chambers, John Corlett, Paul Collins must be in with a shout and how will 2018 Newcomer champions Elliott and Graham Tickner fare against such experienced characters.

The dark horse is series sponsor Phil Sparkes who has persuaded Izzy Saunders to take the hot seat.Start time for the battle of Sethern commences at 10am.
