IT is only mid April, yet the ACU S3 Parts National Trials Championship hits round five on Easter Monday, April 23, when the Llangollen club stage their traditional Lomax Cup National trial.

The S3 series continues to be mega popular and the Lomax hit its 120-rider maximum in record time.

Included are all three main classes, Expert, Clubman and Over 40, the latter two now totally separate to one another.

The village of Glyn Ceirog, Denbighshire, in north Wales is once again the starting point and the Lomax will comprise a 35-mile road-based lap which will take in 35 sections in groups set around the course.

In the always competitive Experts class all the leading contenders will be there, which means serial National trials winner and current leader, veteran Dan Thorpe, fellow Gas Gas rider Guy Kendrew and this seasons surprise challenger, TRS mounted Chris Stay who has been travelling from the Isle of Wight.

Others in with a shout include former champ Chris Pearson and Chris Alford.

Emma Bristow and Jess Bown are both tackling the Expert route while Clubman class front-runner Katy Sunter is joined by Louise Alford, Victoria Payne and Katie Nash.

Yorkshire brothers Richard and Tom Fraser will be defending their current one-two Clubman placings where Richard has already raced into a commanding lead.

Over 40 class leader Phil Houghton from Wrexham rides his local National and faces, among others, Hillsborough stalwart Darren Wasley and Preston all-rounder Kiaran Hankin. Three riders, north Wales TRS ace Iwan Roberts, Gas Gas UK rider Richard Sadler and Shercos James Fry will be gunning for the Lomax Cup but are not eligible for S3 Parts points.

The first man will be sent on his way from the Canolfan Ceirog Centre (LL207HE) at 9.30am on Easter Monday with the remainder leaving at one minute intervals.
