Trials S3 Parts

The ACU S3 Parts National Trials Championship gets back on track this Easter following the recent cancellation of the fourth round.

That was to have been the Hillsborough clubs Jack Wood Trial that was unfortunately struck by the recent bad winter weather.

However, things are looking better for this Easter weekend double header in Wales when the Mid Wales Centre will stage the Welsh Trophy Trial on Sunday, April 1, to be followed by the Llangollen guys and gals hosting their well-known Lomax Trophy Trial.

The S3 Parts series is for traditional single-lap road-based National series and each individual event always prove popular in its own right with big local followings.

In the Expert Championship to date Richmond (Yorks) club rider Richard Sadler has made the perfect start with a maximum 60 points from the three trials which were the North Berks clubs Wallace Cup, the Westmorland clubs Milnethorpe Cup and Stratford upon Avons Colmore Cup, all excellent trials.

Currently in the runner-up slot is Richards pal and fellow Beta runner Guy Kendrew, 11 marks astern while reigning S3 Parts Champion, Sherco mounted Luke Walker from Ashby de la Zouch, is just four marks adrift of Guy.

Eastbournes Tom Moss has been the surprise find of the series to date, the Southern centre rider doing himself proud. Sunderlands John Crinson sits fifth just ahead of Yorkies Sam Yeadon and former multi-champ Chris Pearson.

The Clubman class is not always easy to predict although reigning Champ Darren Wasley has taken a narrow lead in the series to date the Hillsborough clubman has not managed a win yet.

In fact there have been three different winners and each one has only contested a single round to date. Steve Swanson took the Wallace, Rob Shuttleworth the Milnthorpe and Ian Wakeford the Colmore.

It will be really interesting to see if this continues with two new winners this weekend!Correspondence from the Mid Wales centre tells us preparations are well in hand for Sundays Welsh Trophy with a good entry and sections in perfect nick after recent snow.

However some of the centres regular observers are suffering from ill health at the moment so a few offers of help would be welcome. If you can help out in a cracking piece of Welsh countryside, being well looked after with a hot meal afterwards at the start, The Cann Office, Llangadfan near Welshpool, it would really be appreciated.

Turn up at the start by 9am or contact the secretary Kev Bowden on kevin_v_bowden@yahoo.co.uk Start time is 9.30am and the lap will be of roughly 30 miles. On Easter Monday there is again a 9.30am kick-off from the Canoffan Ceirog Centre, Glyn Ceirog, Llangollen, Denbighshire, LL20 7HE.

Riders will be treated to a 35-mile lap with 36 sections but spectators beware that much of the action is down narrow roads and forest tracks. Brilliant for riders but not for big vans so please drive and park responsibly.
