SSDT is open now

And the big news this week is that Regs and entries are now available and open for the 2019 Scottish Six Days Trial.
The 2019 dates of the biggest and best trial in the world, just in case you didnt know, are Monday to Saturday, May 6 to May 11, with technical control (scrutineering) on Sunday, May 5.
The venue is of course Fort William and the organising Edinburgh and DMC are already on the case of planning the routes. Clerk of the course Jeff Horne has several plans to follow-up with regard to new routes, as his short and long-term plan is to be able to rest certain areas each year to allow the land to recover should it be necessary.
As ever, The Scottish is expected to be oversubscribed, such is the popularity of this classic, traditional event.
The format is 30 sections each day with daily mileage between 60 and over 100 taking in roadwork, unsurfaced tracks and open moorland. This is your chance to ride alongside Dougie Lampkin, MBE, who has taken the record for Scottish wins virtually beyond approach.
Doug has won the event an unprecedented TWELVE times including the last seven consecutively. And the Vertigo ambassador hasnt finished yet! It wouldnt be unlucky 13 for Doug and after a sixth Scott victory last Saturday the desire to win is as strong as ever.
An early entry wont guarantee you a ride, as we have said the trial is virtually guaranteed to be oversubscribed and if it is a ballot will be held to determine the (circa) 280 riders to be accepted.
The Scottish Six Days website (ssdt.org) had recently been upgraded and updated but by the time you read this, entries will be open and you can get your 2019 plans underway.
