Trials Torque: It’s still a great Brittain!

Trials

IN my report on last years Vic Brittain trial, writes Colin Bullock, I said that while the event may not currently be a National, it is still very well supported.

Twelve months on that is still the case, with the 100 entry event being well exceeded, leaving quite a few riders missing out on a place.

The Vic Brittain starts again on Sunday at The Timber Yard, Oak Wood Road, Ditton Priors, WV16 6TD with a start time of 9.30am.

Riders start out at two per minute as they tackle no less than eight groups of sections around the Shropshire countryside.

Organisers, the South Shropshire MCC, has a few requests of riders and spectators.

There will be a couple of notices asking people to be extra steady going through the small villages and hamlets.

Also for trial followers there is no spectating at Lower Strand Brook (second group) and Clee Brook (fifth group) but there is plenty of viewing at the other subs.

Rider-wise the entry is topped by British Championship challenger Ross Danby, a previous event winner.

Ross starts at number 47 and he will have local ace Buster Regan for close company.

Becky Talbot makes the trip up from the Isle of Wight so there will be a strong TRS presence in all classes.

Talking of which, with two different routes and the ‘Masters' tackling a 50/50 hard and easier selection of subs there should be something for everyone.

Expect the Cowley brothers to be at the competitive end of the middle class.

Last piece of advice comes from the organising South Shropshire club.

It can get a little wintry this time of year in the area so please check with the club's website or the usual social media sources regarding the event's status before travelling.
