Trial World Championship

The 2019 Trial World Championship rolls into its third round this weekend with a trip to Holland, the first time in many years, with a mainly man-made course at Zelhem, some 150k from Amsterdam.

As well as TrialGP, Trial2 and Trial125 the round in the Netherlands heralds the first of the two-event TrialE series for electric bikes.

There are 15 starters in TrialGP with all the usual suspects headed by the unstoppable Toni Bou (Repsol Honda).

After three events, one day in Italy and two in Japan, Toni sits on a maximum 60 points with Adam Raga (TRRS) just hanging in on 49 with Japanese veteran Takahisa Fujinami (Repsol Honda) a surprise third at this stage.

James Dabill (Beta), currently sits in a fine fifth while Jack Price (Gas Gas) and Dan Peace (Sherco) also go into battle for Team GB.

There are no fewer than 34 hopefuls lining up in Trial2 where competition is fierce. Defending Champ, Italian Matteo Grattarola (Honda) has eked out a 10-point lead from Britains Toby Martyn (Beta) and Toby will be keen to close that gap.

The Cornish ace is under pressure himself from Spanish prospect Gabriel Marcelli (Montesa) and French class newcomer Alex Ferrer (Sherco) having dropped down from TrialGP.

Jack Peace (Sherco) is still in the frame in fifth spot while Billy Green (Montesa) holds 10th. Josh Hanlon (Beta) and Hugo Jervis (TRRS) also make the trip across the channel.Trial125 sports a healthy 15 entrants headed by triple winner Frenchman Kieran Touly (Scorpa).

Three Brits head out to challenge, with Scot Ben Dignan (Gas Gas) a strong bet for a podium backed up by Beta pair Brett Harbud and Jake Eley.

TrialE has attracted just seven entries but excitement is based around Spains Albert Cabestany making an appearance on the Gas Gas which has won the Championship for the past two years, in the hands of Marc Colomer and Loris Gubian.

And veteran Japanese ace Kenichi Kuroyama returns to Europe on the prototype Yamaha which is very light and agile. Stir in Gubian, Italian Gianluca Tournour and Belgian Dany Crosset with Gas Gas power and it should be a lively contest.
