Club Reports

The big guns in Yorkshire trialling arrived at Addingham Moorside last Sunday morning where Yeadon-Guiseley MC successfully staged the first event in their championship series after cancelling the trial a week previously due to an inaccessible parking area.

The breeze lifted the moisture from the rain-soaked hillside and with just a brief showing of sunshine 117 competitors sprang into action.

Of the total entry figure Event Secretary Kim Whitham segregated 23 youngsters who rode a separate Small-wheels course.

It was no easy outing for the some of the very young and small girls and boys as Denholme's Summer Brooksbank and Cookridge's Poppy Fletcher topped the easy course, while Toby Shaw and Jacob Reeday won the hard and middle route classes.

Outgoing Yorkshire adult trials champion Sam Yeadon won the hard route class but was matched by Guiseley's Joe Jennings through all ten section but lost out on tiebreaker.

Chester international Brad Bullock took third place ahead of Telford's Tom Minta and East Morten landlord Martin Crosswaite.

Sam Johnson produced a great ride along with Keiran Child who was a dab behind Sam.

Richard Mellon dabbed in section four on his final lap; that single penalty over in the northern rocks being his final tally.

The Clubman A and B routes were dead on the button because Tony Heath posted a three in the same section as Mellon.

Tom Jackson climbed to the seventh section up the rock path opposite the farm but his labours were in vain as he marked down a total of five marks from the hard course riders.

The action ranged right down to the big steps at the tenth where Rachel Benn observed the fight against a triangle of tree trunks then a vertical six foot rock face where it nearly went wrong for Yeadon when the Acklam Beta rear wheel broke away on the angled descent from the hardware.

Jennings, Minta and Bullock really hit the step but the best flight into space was from Joe Faunthorpe in Youth A.
