Club Reports

Scarborough DMC started the new year as they finished the last with a massive 125 entrants, 26 of these in the ever growing Youth class.

Father and son team Pat and Shaughan Galway and their helpers, plotted the main trial and conducted route around the old Army camp at Harwood Dale.

A fine ride by Andy Chilton on the Birkett Scorpa gave him the Expert class glory and Seb Smith from Hutton Rudby headed a very strong Conducted class.

There was glorious weather as riders tackled the three-lap, 12-section route and Chilton looked in confident mood from the start, cleaning the awkward double-step out of the river as if it wasnt there.

Ian Austermuhle needed a couple on the first lap before mastering it.

Attacking rides on the climb here saw Youth C winner Harrison Skelton clean every lap, while runner-up Jamie Sharp ended with four lost.

The 10th was the best section of the day at Top Rocks with angled boulders a tight pivot turn up a five-foot step and it stopped Austy, Tom Affleck and Zac Collinson every lap.

Only Chilton mastered it going 1-2-1 for his only marks of the day with a superb ride.

North East man Gary Pears won the Clubman A with an unpenalised ride, the only man in the entire entry to beat the course plotter.

Scarboroughs Andy Lockwood kept in touch on the Feet Up Montesa but three lost on the fourth spoilt his challenge.

Chris Laws christened his new Vertigo with a win in the Clubuman B despite three scrappy marks lost on the fifth.

His main challengers were Colin Bailey, Paul Nelson and Phil Clough but only Bailey remained clean on the difficult 10th.
