ALEXZ Wigg is in for a busy transition season as he moves into the Adults and it looks like the 17-year-old will be skipping between his buzzing little 125 Gas Gas and a new fire-breathing 300. On Sunday, young Wiggy had an amazing ride on the little 125 in the Eboracum club's Colonial National, beaten only by Mr Dabill.

Alexz, reigning World, European and British Youth champ, will be tackling the World Junior Champs in 2007 and as under 18-year-olds are restricted to 125cc he has no choice but to run the little ‘un. Obviously this puts him at a disadvantage against the older riders on bigger machines but don't think for a second that that will make Alexz uncompetitive - if anything it will fire him up to greater achievement on the 125.

Good news over the winter is that he will be receiving support from the Gerona factory at International events this year which will allow Alexz to concentrate fully on his riding and results.

Alexz's deal is basically with John Shirt Jr at Gas Gas UK but the factory are supplying a new bike plus all their facilities at World Championship rounds. John Shirt matches that with a bike plus back-up when in Britain.

In Britain, Alexz has elected to contest the British Adult Championship when he will move up to the 300 Gasser. He also plans to ride the 2007 Scottish and Scott trials, also on the 300, but to add to the mix will also ride the 125 in selected road-based National trials. Alexz has actually passed his test and has the option of riding whichever model he pleases.

It is going to be a busy year for the teenager but John Shirt is confident that he has both the ability and the mental capacity to take another major step forward.

Said John, ''Alexz is like Dougie in some ways, especially his ability to ride at his best when under pressure. This is a huge asset, I think Alexz has a very good chance of reaching the top and I will do everything I can to give him the chance.''
