ALBERT Cabestany pulled off something of a shock on Boxing Day when he was crowned 2006 Spanish Indoor Trials Champ, leaving reigning World Indoor Champ Adam Raga to be satisfied with second in the series!

Former World Indoor Champ Cabestany took his factory Sherco to four wins in the eight round series being victorious in his home town of Tarragona, then on Gas Gas home-soil in Girona plus wins in Cordoba and Santander.

Although Albert could only manage a distant third in the final round at Lleida on Boxing Day, he still did enough to pip Raga to the title, ending his campaign on 66 points to Raga's 64 with Bou third on 53. It was a busy festive season for the Spanish trials boys a they then had to set-off for Sheffield just three days later!

Cabestany will be hoping that he carries his winning form into the World Championship series when it kicks-off in Granada, Spain on Sunday, January 14.
