Chris Pidcock, the Montesa UK importer, this week announced that 2011 Scott Trial winner, 20-year-old Jonathan Richardson, has signed a two-year contract to ride a factory-supplied Montesa 4RT.

The Yorkshire youngster had a secret test ride on a ‘works' supplied 2011 Montesa 4RT in the presence of team staff at a location in Spain recently.

And he was so amazed at the performance of the four-stroke machine that when offered a contract he had no hesitation in signing on the dotted line.

Chris Pidcock said: "This is fantastic news for 2012 and not just for me but also for the Montesa Team in Spain, who have acknowledged Jonathan's talent.

"He will be supplied with a factory-supported machine to ride in the World Junior Championship, British Championship, Scottish Six Days and Scott Trial along with other selected events.

"His new minder and mechanic will be Harry Harvey, who will support him at all events along with his personal sponsor Mike Smith, of Mial Coach Builders.

"Additional support will come from the SPEA Team and Luciano Bonaria, with other team sponsors to be announced shortly.

"I personally will make sure the infrastructure is in place for him to challenge for the World Junior title, which is the ultimate goal for 2012.”

Jonathan added: "This is a dream come true and I would like to thank Miquel Cirera from Montesa in Spain and Chris Pidcock in the UK for giving me this fantastic opportunity.

"As soon as I rode the Montesa my mind was made up as I felt this was the machine for me to move forward with my trials career.

"Its performance in all areas is incredible and I cannot believe how light the machine is.

"I have had four fantastic years at Sherco under the guidance of the Sherco factory and Malcolm and Rhoda Rathmell, which delivered a World Youth Championship in 2009, a World Junior round victory and of the course the Scott Trial in 2011.

"I would personally like to thank all of them for this and of course all the sponsors associated with the Sherco and MRS team.”
