Laia Czechs out as champ

TWO days of European Trials Championship action at Tanvald, in the Czech Republic, last weekend, resulted in two championships being tied-up on the Saturday.
Spanish star Laia Sanz eased to her seventh Ladies European crown while young French rider, Tanguy Mottin, nailed the Youth 125 Cup. Then, on Sunday, Brit Michael Brown powered to his fourth straight victory from four starts and nothing short of a disaster can stop Michael from taking the championship. Fellow Brit and Beta rider Jack Challoner then charged to a spectacular victory in the Euro Junior to move within six points of series leader Alexander Ferrer who could only manage fourth on the day.
On Saturday, persistent rain made conditions extremely slippery for the opening day's competition and this played into the hands of Laia Sanz who was in a class of her own as she dropped just a single mark over two laps of 12 sections. She has dominated the series with three wins from the three events that comprise the series. Laia's two cleans of the third section were exceptional with only Iris Kramer, Joanne Coles and Donna Fox managing to bag a single clean each here.
Becky Cook was really up for the challenge of toppling Iris Kramer for the runner-up berth in the series and set-off really well and despite fiving the double-step at the third section she held a two mark advantage over her German rival at the end of the lap. Becky was then on course to hold-on to the runner-up berth and was on just four marks up to the ninth section which she unfortunately got stuck on and then ran out of time as she attempted to push out. The five-mark penalty let Kramer ease ahead and beat Becky
