More miles on the clock

Colunists

The past few weeks have been pretty eventful with lots of stuff going.

It kicked off with my birthday – another year older and wiser!  No grey hairs yet though luckily!

I was actually out practicing on my birthday but got spoiled by the kids and Jodie when I got back. The team and I were over in Dunkirk

riding for a few days last week. Ryan, Willy and Luke Hawkins picked me up in the team van on their way to the channel tunnel. Ramon and Aubin were also there preparing for the Le Touquet beach race so it was our first time all riding together.  It was a fruitful few days, the Honda is great and I'm happy with my progress.

In between the riding, the days get filled up with physical training for which I travel down to Devon. I stay down for two days to train with Dicky then I have my own schedule when I'm at home. I really enjoy myself and it's a good balance I have which I think is important.

Last week I passed the module-two part of my road bike test, so that's me all done and dusted on that. Excited I also did my first aid course a few days ago – something I need ready for our first Honda off-road day on February 15.

The days are filling up for the year which is great – I know I've said it before but this is something I'm really excited about and looking forward to.

It was fun getting out in the snow with the kids, they loved making snowmen and igloos. I got the trials bike out in the snow around the drive and I was taking the kids around doing donuts – but the next day the kids were ill so I got the blame for that from Jodie. Two sick kids are a real handful!

I took Ayrton up to watch the ArenaCross in Birmingham and I was keen to have a watch myself so we headed up a bit earlier to grab a bite to eat and a drink with the team. Ayrton loved the first hour but couldn't keep his eyes open so fell asleep on me.
I thought Matt bates and his team put on a great show. The track was a bit rutty but you couldn't expect any better after all the rubbish weather we've had recently.

This coming week we are out testing race parts. I tested a bit before Christmas but now we have more stuff to try.
So it's all good stuff going on over the next month and I look forward to bringing you up to date on that.
Till then take care .
