New class system for Masters MX

THE British Masters Motocross Championship will feature a new format for the 2008 season as the series also moves up to an eight-round championship.

After numerous seasons running its usual format ofthree Youth and Amateur class races on Saturday and the Pro classes onSunday, supported by a fourth block of Youth and Amateur action, theformat will be changed to involve all classes on both days.

British Masters series organisers, the AMCA, plansto change to a two-race format on each day for the Youth and Amateurclasses and move Pro class qualification to Saturday

afternoons to make room for this move.

Pro 125 and Pro Open class signing-on will nowtake place on Friday and Saturday and qualification will kick off from4.30pm onwards on Saturday.

On Sunday the Pros will then receive 15 minutes' free practice per class at 9am and this will be followed by two races.

Any AMCA licence holder competing in either of thePro classes will be scored separately for an overall championship placeplus a bonus for the top AMCA finisher at each round as follows: 1 -£75, 2 - £50, 3 - £45 per race.

Should any AMCA licence holder appear in the top20 in the Pro classes they will also receive prize money on the day.The full list of dates for the 2008 British Masters Motocross series isas follows:

Rd 1 – March 15/16

Rd 2 – April 19/20

Rd 3 – May 10/11

Rd 4 – June 14/15

Rd 5 – July 5/6

Rd 6 – August 9/10

Rd 7 – September 6/7
