THE North Riding Enduro Club has just presented the Yorkshire Air Ambulance with a cheque for 2,000 in recognition of the valuable service it provides across the region. The presentation (pictured above) was made at one of the club's regular venues, Camp Hill Plantation near Bedale. The cheque was presented by club Chairman Tim Gilbank and landowner Robert Ropner to Tony Doveston of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The NREC, geographically based in North Yorkshire, was formed in 1985 and has an organising committee of around 35 and a riding membership of 450 who come from all over the British Isles to compete in the Hare and Hounds Challenge Series and the infamous Stang Enduro, held in July as a part of the eight-round North of England Enduro Championship.
The club, a not-for-profit organisation, is committed to promoting
sustainable events throughout the region, working with land owners such as Robert Ropner to deliver technical and challenging meetings at some prestigious venues which include Camp Hill and the nearby Thorpe Perrow Estate. The club works very closely with land owners seeking always to ensure that the land is returned to its original condition after the competitors have left.
On presenting the cheque, Robert Ropner said, Motorcyclists are so often discriminated against but members of the North Riding Enduro Club show how they can have responsible fun and enjoy two-wheeled fun safely off road. I am delighted to see them here at Camp Hill.
The next North Riding Enduro Club event is at Thorpe Perrow near Bedale on Sunday, June 1. For more information please go to www.northridingenduro.co.uk or www.enduro-neec.org.uk and www.yaa.org.uk
