Good Day For Brits on Day One of ISDE

The ACU British ISDE Team made an impressive start onday one of the International Six Days Enduro in Navarra, Spain.
The British World Trophy team have started strongly and are placed third – only 56 seconds behind the leaders,USA, in what has been a long yet close-fought day.
The British World Junior Trophy team have also started well and although seventh are under three minutes behind the leaders, Sweden.
ACU GB ISDE Team Manager, Dusty Martin: "We could barely hope for a better start. Our World Trophy team is very strong this year and that's shown with top-ten times in most of the tests.
It was a long day today, some 310km and nearly eight hours of riding – nearly all in blinding dust so it's been a tough one for all our riders, but they've kept their heads and put themselves in a great position for the week ahead.”
There were no serious issues today although we had two mechanicals to deal with. Jamie McCanney had a front brake issue which forced him to replace the entire system in the mid-day check here in the paddock. And Lee Sealey put a big dent in his bike's expansion chamber that again needed replacing.
Both riders dealt with the work calmly and methodically and were able to repair their bikes and continue without incurring time penalties.
"We've a long way to go, though, and with the new rules where every rider's time counts (there's no discarding the worst score) there is no slack in the system. Every rider has to stay competitive and alert, we need all seven back at the end of the week in good shape if we are to stand a chance of being on the podium.
They're good lads and with team captains Jamie and Lee helping set the strategy for the lads out on the course we're working hard to keep things tight and controlled – and in the best possible position to get a good result. "So, a good day's work today, the riders are settling in well. We're all looking forward to Day Two!”
