Enduro

After a very successful opening round of this years ACU British Timecard Enduro Championship taki in Hampshire back in February, the series now heads to the picturesque market town of Helmsley, North Yorkshire over the weekend of May 12/13.

John Kerwin the clerk of the course for Dirtbike Actions Putoline Yorshire 2 Day Enduro has spent the recent last few months busy in preparation for this years event and things are looking good for another cracking round.

For this event John is again working alongside the Fast Eddy Racing Team who shall be setting up both special tests to bring a top quality event. The route of around 20 miles flows through the Duncombe Park estate using a mixture of technical trails and some wider forestry tracks, with the aim being to provide an enjoyable weekends riding for all classes.

The check times will be set so that they are achievable by the majority in each class.Flying Manxman Danny McCanney will be the man to beat in the Championship class after a commanding win at round one.

But Tom Sagar, back on fine form after a year out, and Joe Wootton will be looking to challenge him. Young hotshots Jack Edmondson and Dan Mundell will be hoping to get podium finishes too.

Not far behind the leading quartet are Cornish star Josh Gotts and former motocross rider Alex Snow.

Other BEC regulars including Fraser Flockhart, James Dent, Tom Ellwood, Jed Etchells and Jay Thomas will all be hoping to score some good points.

Another young man on a mission will be Alex Walton hoping to put use his recent European and World Enduro Championship experience to use to earn some good championship points. In the highly competitive Experts class in-form Dylan Baynton will be hoping for another win, but he will face stiff opposition from Aaron Gordon, Max Ditchfield, Jon Hunt and Ben Murphy.

Others hoping to get in on the points are Jordan Ridgeway, Luke Flack, Richard Tucker and local Michael Gilby to name but a few. In the Clubman class another close battle looks on the cards between Lewis Ranger, Stuart Mack, Harry Houghton and Luke Thomas, who are all capable of taking class wins on their day.

Nieve Holmes and Rosie Rowett will pick up where they left off at round one in the Ladies, while Andrew Edwards (Over 40) and Julian Oakes (Over 50) will take some beating in their respective classes.

All in all, its all starting to hot up in this years BEC series and with an improved Helmsley on the cards, it looks like we will be in for a belter of an event. Start is located off Braxtons road, Helmsley, North Yorkshire YO62 5EP.

The venue will be signposted from Helmsley Market Square. For further information on the event checkout the club website: http://www.dirtbike-action.co.uk

Who even needs the Enduro World Championship?

While it sucks that we won’t get to see Steve Holcombe, Jamie McCanney, Danny McCanney, Brad Freeman and Dan Mundell in world championship competition on this side of the English Channel what we might end up with is all those guys – and more – competing for pride and big cash prizes instead!
