Jonny Walker: Jetting off for the SuperEnduro

SuperEnduro

As I hit the send button on this months TMX column Im sat at the airport and its all go...

This time i'm heading off for the SuperEnduro and I'm ready to wing my way across the Atlantic to round three of the series in Argentina.
Then it's on to Brazil for round four the following weekend. I've got a feeling it's going to be a busy few days...
I'm looking forward to getting back into the SuperEnduro mix this weekend. It's been a while since Germany at the beginning of January and things are tight in the championship.
After two rounds there's only two points separating Cody Webb and myself for the lead. It's not much so I just want to close that gap and get my nose in front.
I've been riding well and got my first race win in Germany but I still feel like I'm making the odd mistake here and there. If I can cut those out then I really believe I can be even better.
I've said it before but the championship is just so competitive this year. All the guys are going at it every race so I'm guessing both Argentina and Brazil will be a turning point for most in the title chase. I'll keep chipping away at where I'm at, keep trying to improve and do my best to make it a turning point for the better.
Filling the gap in SuperEnduro, I also did my first extreme race of the year with the Ales Trem in France a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty cool race. I rode it last year and definitely enjoyed it a lot this year too. It was great to get the win.
My focus is on SuperEnduro – that's why I didn't get to race at Hell's Gate – so to jump out of that training and onto my two-stroke and get the win was a big confidence boost for me. Because I'm focused on SuperEnduro at the minute I wasn't sure just how things would unfold. Sometimes you lose a bit here to gain a bit somewhere else.
But I know by winning Ales and then going onto win the Fast Eddy Extreme means I'm not too far off the pace of where I was outdoors but, of course, there's more work to do. However, it has given me the confidence to keep putting 100 per cent into my indoor stuff.
With four rounds crammed into the next five weeks, here's hoping – with all my fingers and toes crossed – that there'll be a lot to talk about in the next column. Let's do it!
