IT'S the final countdown to the biggest game of football since, well, since a cuppla wee lads took their jackets off and used them as goal posts under street lights down the local park a week past last Christmas!

It's the annual Solos versus the Sidecar lads charity football match this Sunday (November 12) at Burnham Football Ground, and former Chelsea and England mid-fielder and now new Leeds United manager Dennis Wise is the guest of honour.

The event, on Remembrance Sunday, will kick off at 11.03am after the minute's silence to remember those who lost their lives during the world wars, and the charity the lads are playing for is the Crossroads Nurses.

There will be a raffle and auction held after the match, to raise cash, which will include riders' race shirts and signed photos and other memorabilia.

The organisers are still on the hunt for some donations prizes, contact Colin Philpott at colphilpott@tiscali.co.uk to let him know if you can bring something to the event on Sunday.

Admission price for the most anticipated game of football since the World Cup (what happened to the park game? – Ed) is only £3 and gates will open at 10am with a licensed bar and food available.

Players include, for the Solos – British MX2 Champion Carl Nunn, British MX2 number two Tommy Searle. three times world champion Dave Thorpe, former world 125cc champion Jamie Dobb, Dixon Yamaha boss Steve Dixon, DEP pipes specialist Craig Elwell, former British four-stroke champion Neil Sheppard, David Willet, Mark Eastwood, big Scott Simms, and a cuppla hangers on as subs – T+MX's Graham (good grief, what was that you numptie) McMilne and MotoX editor Simon (Swan-dive) Swan.

Over in the Sidecar squad you can shout at former multi British champions Chris Etheridge, John Chambers, Jason and Luke Peters, Scott Wilkinson, Gary Burt, Barry Williams, Simon Bradford, Martin Taylor, John Lyne, Andy Heighes, Rob Batten, Eric Maguire and Grant Peacock.

There is a rumour that McMilne will swap sides at half time just so he can guarantee himself a spot of winners' champagne!

So, get yourself down or up to Burnham Football Ground, The Gore, Wymers Wood Rd, Burnham, Bucks, SL1 8GJ – off Junction 7 of the M4 and support the good cause.
