The first rounds of the ACU British Enduro Championship are just over two weeks away and Helmsley in North Yorkshire is the destination for a full entry of 208 riders.

John Kerwin from Dirtbike Action, the Organiser of the first event is very upbeat about some of changes that have been made for the first event.

"We have made some changes to this year's event to make the start and camp area the main focal point of the event.

We have moved the event date to March to make provision for a new XC test which will take place on a 35 acre stubble field. Revamped, the tight check now ends opposite the refuelling area at the start, so the start area is the main hub and to add a bit more spice for the riders the course has been reversed for the first time and an additional bit of land added”.

One of the favourites for the title is championship rider Steve Holcombe who has just returned from the Factory Beta Headquarters in Italy testing the new 300rr ahead of the season.

Talking about the forthcoming championship, Holcombe said "I'm really looking forward to round one of the BEC this year as I have one goal and that's to win!”

I have full confidence in my machinery and team and I am just generally excited to get the British Championship underway, It will be interesting to see how they have changed the event for this year, with I believe a different test added in. It should give the course a fresh feel and it'll be good to see all the familiar faces again after a hefty break”

This season will also see the return of Jane Daniels, who qualified fourth last year. Riding for St Blazey MX again this year aboard a Husqvarna 250F, Jane says that she definitely felt like she improved towards the final rounds of the BEC and is really looking forward to improving again this year.

With an additional round of the championship taking place in the Isle of Man over August 6/7, everything is now gearing up to an exciting BEC championship this year.
