With new riders, new teams, new classes and a series extended to 10 rounds, the AMCA British Motocross Championship is ready for lift off on Sunday at Norley!

Hosting round one of this series powered by Datatag and supported by Dunlop is the Mid Cheshire MXC and what an opener it promises to be. Entries have been flooding in for all classes resulting in the need for on-the-day qualification and in a rider list bulging with quality, joining the AMCA family are former ACU champions Neville Bradshaw in MX1 and Kristian Whatley in MX2.

The first new class comes in MX2 where the 250F pilots will line up alongside the 250cc two-stroke aces. On the four-strokes the charge could be led by any one from a handful of fast guys including Jamie Wainwright, Josh Coleman, Clinton Barrs and Ryan Crowder whos dropping down from MX1. Campaigning the two-strokes theres last years champion Richard Cannings along with the likes of Bradley Doyle, Sean Eckersley and Bradley Tranter.

New class No.2 is for 125cc two-stroke pilots with an entry list that combines youth and experience. Its too early to call but expect Chris Povey, Ryan Zebedee, Harry Clarke and Callum Evans to be at the business end of things.

Despite switching from KTM to Yamaha machinery during the winter, defending MX1 champion Josh Waterman still looks likely to be the man to beat in the big-bike class. Hunting him down though are a whole host of fast-charging contenders including James Dodd, whos now back on a Honda, Welsh duo Shane Carless and Ashley Greedy and Irish ace Gary Gibson.

After winning the 2018 Vets title, Simon Lane has since formed his own race team a set-up that includes his brother James and this season the Lane boys are due to go head-to-head with James having passed that magical milestone of a 40th birthday! Also joining the Vets are AMCA stalwart Craig Chamberlain now incredibly entering his 24th championship campaign and former top AMCA and IMBA contender Jamie Powell.

Joseph Brookes was a very worthy winner of last years Youth 85cc/150cc title and this extremely talented lad is determined to defend his hard-earned crown again in 2019. Joseph will once again face the likes of Harry Ridgway, Jake OGorman, Joshua Flecther-Williams and a whole host of new challengers.

Norley will be signposted off the A49. Postcode is WA6 6LJ.
