British Motocross Championship Canada Heights Conrad Mewse

Defending Maxxis ACU British MX2 champion Conrad Mewse dislocated his wrist when he crashed in the second turn of race two at Canada Heights on Sunday and will miss this weekends MXGP of Lombardia and potentially faces an even longer lay-off.

Heading into the third round of the series with the championship lead on the back of a maximum score at round two at Lyng, the 20-year-old extended his advantage with a comfortable win in race one.

But it all went wrong for him in race two when he was taken down in the second turn and crashed out.

Update: Further injury discovered blow to British title defence

Im not too great to be honest, he said on Tuesday afternoon. Theres not a lot we can do right now apart from just wait on the recovery time and hopefully mend as quick as possible. I know I dislocated my wrist and thats been put back in but at the moment I dont know if theres more to it or not.

Im seeing a load of specialists this week and then Ill know more. Ill be out for a little bit but Im just not sure for how long yet.

With Mewse failing to score points in the second race, REVO Husqvarna UKs Alvin Ostlund took the overall win and moved into a one-point lead over the Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee rider in the championship.
