THE UKs biggest classic off-road motorcycle event takes place at Telfords International Centre this weekend, February 20-21, with sporting stars and stunning machines among the highlights for showgoers.

Sponsored by well-known industry name Hagon Shocks, the Classic Dirt Bike Show will welcome famous faces from the world of off-road including Nick Jefferies, Jim Aird and Wayne le Marquand – as well as former speedway ace Barry Briggs.

On the display front, bikes from across the glory years of off-road motorcycling will be showcased including – among others – the Manx Norton-based machine on which Les Archer became the last European Motocross Champion in 1956.

Also on show will be the recently rediscovered BSA trials bike used by Alan Lampkin when he became the last-ever winner of the Scottish Six Days Trial to be mounted on a British four-stroke 10 years later.

Motorcycle journalist and Classic Dirt Bike magazine editor Tim Britton said: "This will be like another Christmas for off-road bike enthusiasts, with everything they could possibly imagine or wish for on display.”

All-round racer Sammy Miller – a 1960s trials champion – will also be in attendance and talking to crowds on stage bringing with him three of the rarest bikes from the vast collection housed at his museum.

Visitors will get a taste of the 1920s through a Brough Superior Pendine racer – similar to the one ridden by Lawrence of Arabia – along with an exotic Italian Bianchi and a Talon Mick Mar trials model.

Tim added: "With Sammy bringing road-racing machines to go alongside the wealth of off-road bikes, it proves that this is a motorcycle show which fans of all makes, models, eras and disciplines can enjoy.”

Hundreds of trade stands, club exhibits and private entries complete the jam-packed show line-up.

On Saturday night there will be a three-course dinner during which the four special guests of honour will speak. To check seating availability, visit the Classic Dirt Bike stand in Hall 2.

General show tickets are available on the gate, with a one-day adult pass costing £13. Doors open at 10am, with early autojumble entry from 9am available for an additional £4. Visit classicdirtbikeshow.com for further details.
