THE Dirt Bike Show will move to a December date in 2007 with Stoneleigh Park having been booked for the four days, Thursday through Sunday, December 710.

A move from its traditional mid-November slot was necessitated by the NEC Motorcycle Show switching onto the previously announced Dirt Bike Show dates, after it found itself in a date clash with Europe's largest show, Milan.

Dirt Bike Show promoters are putting a positive spin on the move though, pointing out that it now sits right slap bang in the Christmas shopping window and the date switch might just have done them a favour.

This year, The Dirt Bike Show stood up to falling attendances much better than did the NEC show and will be going all-out for a real Christmas flavour. The NEC organisers found themselves without any Italian exhibitors this year, due to a clash with the Milan show, and partly blamed that for what turned out to be a dramatic loss of show-goers. It is hoped that the return of Italian factories such as Ducati and Aprilia will help turn round their fortunes.

Said Dave Watson of DBS organisers Promoto, "After the NEC Show moved onto our dates we took an all-round sounding from the trade and from our regular exhibitors and everyone we spoke to was very positive about moving to a December date. It obviously suits the exhibitors which will also be attending the NEC show but even the hard-core off-roaders who won't be trading at the NEC thought that a move nearer to Christmas would prove beneficial so we have done the deal.”
