Eli Tomac was joined by Josh Grant as the Monster Energy Kawasaki team entered Round 11 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM Championship, held in the Motor City of Detroit.

Tomac started off the night with a second place finish in Heat 1, while Grant had the opportunity to turn a few extra laps, qualifying out of Semi 1. After the gate drop of the Main Event, Tomac and Grant started off mid-pack and immediately began moving forward. Consistent laps and smooth lines allowed Tomac to race his way into fifth place at the finish. While working towards the front, Grant was involved in a mid-air collision with another rider. Fortunately Grant was able to remount continue moving forward, eventually crossing the line in 12th.

"Today started off really well with two great qualifying sessions," said Tomac. "I went on to finish second in my heat and felt confident heading into the Main Event. In the Main Event, I started mid-pack and made some early passes to get into the top five. Overall, Detroit went well and I'm happy with where we ended."

"My day went really well,” said Grant. "I qualified well and put myself in a good position for the heat. I made a little mistake, ended up going into the Semi and qualified into the Main Event from there. I didn't have the start I wanted but was able to make some good passes and I'm happy with how it ended up. My goal was to finish strong and have a successful day, unfortunately another rider took me down, but all things considered I feel I accomplished my goal. I'm looking forward to spending time on the bike with the team, through the weekend off and coming back strong for Santa Clara.”
