Yamaha has unveiled an international two-stroke championship for YZ125 owners with a 2017 factory ride awaiting the winner.Preliminaries will be held on a national level with the final at the major new team event scheduled for Schalke football stadium on October 8. The prize awaiting the winner is a contract for Yamahas 2017 official EMX125 team.

One of the first British riders to sign up is rising star – and TMX columnist – Tom Grimshaw who's preparing for his first full season on an eighth-litre machine.
"I feel really excited and positive to be able to take part in the new European Yamaha YZ125 Cup,” said Tom. "Although just back on the bike from injury and still new to the Yamaha, I will be working and training really hard for this event.
"My motivation and aim is to qualify for the final in Germany next year which will be totally awesome. It's a great opportunity and I'm aiming to grab it with both hands.”
The YZ125 championship will be held in 13 countries with 42 teenagers advancing to the final in Germany. In addition to the 2017 team contract for the winner, the top six in Schalke – plus two wildcards – will win a multiple day masterclass with 2008 world champion David Philippaerts.
If you're born between 2000 and 2004 and are racing in one of the selected FIM-approved national championships with a Yamaha YZ125 you're in with a chance.
