History was re-written at the final round of the SuperEnduro World Championship in Tours, France as KTMs Taddy Blazusiak secured his record-breaking fifth consecutive world title.

And Britain's Jonny Walker secured his first race win of the series to end his night as runner-up to Blazusiak and third overall in the championship.

Despite an off-form night for David Knight, the Sherco rider still ended his season second overall to Blazusiak in the SuperEnduro series standings.

Ensuring it was a night to remember for the Brits, Sherco's Emma Bristow won the Women's Final to be crowned the 2014 SuperEnduro Women's World Champion.

Chasing Bristow home for third, Husqvarna's Jane Daniels took the runner-up result in the series.

"It's amazing to think that this is my fifth SuperEnduro championship,” said Blazusiak.

"It has been an incredible five years, with some great moments and some tough times, but to finally get this championship won is amazing.”

With a 39-point advantage over Knight heading into Tours, Blazusiak knew that a race win in Final #1 would almost certainly see him wrap-up the title early.

Second fastest in SuperPole behind Walker, the Polish rider set his sights on reeling in early race leader Mathias Bellino (Husqvarna).

Catching the Frenchman with two laps remaining, he worked his way past Bellino to win the race and secure the title.

With the pressure off, Blazusiak went on to finish second in Final #2 and won Final #3 to claim the overall on the night.

"My plan was simple,” continued Blazusiak. "I wanted to stay ahead of David in the Superpole and then win the first final. That would be enough to secure the championship, and that's what I managed to do.

"Once I knew that the championship was safe I decided to go for the overall event win as well, which I wasn't thinking about before the race.

"To end the series with the overall win here in France and with the title is just great. It's been another great championship.”

On a roll since the second half of the season began in Mexico, Walker picked up his third consecutive SuperPole win. Fighting his way through to place third in Final #1, the Brit finally picked up his first win of the season in Final #2.

Hunting down Blazusiak, Walker applied the pressure.

And with the Pole making a mistake in the rocks, Walker pounced and passed his teammate to win.

Backing it up with second place in Final #3, Walker secured the second step on the podium.

"Things have steadily improved throughout the championship and although I was a little disappointed with the way it started, I'm really pleased with the
way it's finished,” said Walker.

"Everyone knows just how hard Taddy is to beat, but I feel like I've made some serious improvements in the last three races.

"My speed has been better, my starts have been better, and my consistency has been better.

"There are still areas where I know I can improve, but I have been getting better and that is the most important thing.

"To win the second final was great.
