THE Scottish Open Motocross Championship kicks off this weekend (March 4) at Rhynie in the north of the country with reigning champion Neil Flockhart (brother of former Scottish champ Stuart) out to try and defend his title. Big changes in the way prize money will be paid have confused many of the riders as the clubs running the rounds are not paying any prize money on the day. Instead they are to pay a levy of £5 per adult rider into the prize pot at the end of the competition which will then be added to sponsorship money the organisers are collecting.

2007 Scottish Motocross Championship dates and venues:
Rd 1 - March 4 - Aberdeen MC at Rhynie, Rd 2 - April 1 - GMCC at Elgin, Rd 3 - May 27 - Irvine MXC at Drumclog, Rd 4 - June 24 - Highland MXC at Ardersier, Rd 5 - July 8 - GYMCC at Duns, Rd 6 - Final - August 12 - SYMCC at Shiplaw.
