Motocross

At last things are looking better and now that we're halfway through the season I'm finally on it in the WEC. At last things are looking better and now that we're halfway through the season I'm finally on it in the WEC. I must say that it's been very hard and I think with just the three classes a lot of riders are having to push to the limit.I'm finally getting used to the 250 thumper and continuing with the 250 two-stroke still keeps me on my toes. Resultswise this month has been okay - other than losing the last Fast Eddy. What can I say apart from that you had to be there to know how mad the conditions were - one minute hot sunshine, the next massive hailstones. They were so big that they damaged nearly all the roofs and bonnets on most of the vehicles in the car park. The race had to be stopped midway and after riding like a girl on the last lap I ended up second. After that I rode the Welsh and spent the whole two days chillin' and listening to the mobile comedy act of Justin 'The Daddy' Wilson who was entertaining everyone. Hopefully next year I can be on his minute and have even more of a laugh. As for the event, well, it was great just to be able to ride one big lap. After the Welsh it was a case of getting ready for the fifth round of the WEC in Czecho. The bike was sorted by Scott Gardener of Planet and the engine is now the dog's *******s. Anyway, I managed to have my best ride to date and a 2-5 score puts me four points behind third in the championship. The race went well and if it wasn't for stalling the engine on the first lap I might have pulled off a win. The second day didn't go as good and I ended up fifth but now I'm within striking distance of third I can hopefully work on finishing on the podium - something that will be hard but definitely possible. While I'm back home I'll be riding the two-stroke and I've got the Hafren Euro round in Mid Wales coming up. It should be a good event as last year it was a BEC round and - as you'd expect - a 'proper' enduro.Already things are starting to happen for next season and I will be returning to a 250 two-stroke full-time. It's great riding the four-stroke but the buzz I get from the two-stroke means it's definitely the machine for me. Also, I feel from a team point of view, running two-strokes is easier from all sides.Putoline, Renthal UFO and Smith are already done and PAR Homes will be one of the main backers again. As for riders, well, I've got to downsize on the team as I want to push more on myself for the next few years and finding the people to help all of us is hard. Also, the lads I have now are starting to do well. Young Simon is beginning to get consistent and he had a great ride in the Welsh while young Polish rider Michael is getting better every event and I'm hoping he will get a top six before the end of the season. Then there's Too Tall McConnell - he's got so much natural talent but needs consistency and preparation otherwise he would be very dangerous!Well that's it for another month - I'm off training today and looking forward to a weekend off.
